    Technically, the definition is not correct. The last one standing would be just the last loser of the game. Since musical chairs eliminates someone in every round (but the eventual winner, of course), the last one standing would have survived all but the final round – which sounds like someone who’s pretty good at musical chairs.

    When he was younger, my nephew Liam was brutal at Musical chairs. He would slip under someone as they sat. They were so mortified they sat on a kid that they would give the win to him. He won so many cakes his Mom had to give some of them away and make him stop playing. =)

    I suspect that the intended humor is that the really bad player would be ‘the first man left standing’, but through PC it is changed to something sounding positive so that the inept one doesn’t have his fragile psyche damaged for all time.
