Simon_Jester, I’m too cynical to think most of the problem would be eliminated. Some, yes, but there is still all that pesky legislation that keeps getting proposed. And members of Congress either think they’re entitled from the get-go, or decide to eat at the trough once they get to D.C.
How about this: restrict campaign donations only to registered voters. Whatever free speech rights the SCOTUS RATS have given to corporations, to the best of my knowledge, only a living, breathing member of Genus Homo Species H. Sapiens*, and that means that corporations cannot register to vote, PACs and 527s cannot register and unions cannot register.

You realize that if we had Public Financing of our electoral campaigns most of this problem would be eliminated.
