So our elected officials are more afraid of the Lobbyists than the American Electorate? I thought that, at least, the Dems were for the American People…

I wish something would eat them.

You realize that if we had Public Financing of our electoral campaigns most of this problem would be eliminated.

Simon_Jester, I’m too cynical to think most of the problem would be eliminated. Some, yes, but there is still all that pesky legislation that keeps getting proposed. And members of Congress either think they’re entitled from the get-go, or decide to eat at the trough once they get to D.C.

If we had ONLY Public Financing ALL our problems would be eliminated.

How about this: restrict campaign donations only to registered voters. Whatever free speech rights the SCOTUS RATS have given to corporations, to the best of my knowledge, only a living, breathing member of Genus Homo Species H. Sapiens*, and that means that corporations cannot register to vote, PACs and 527s cannot register and unions cannot register.

If only the voters really were sapientes.

If only Homo represented sentient ,and were salient to the issue.

Funny how conservatives who complain about “activist judges” are silent while the Supreme Court dismantles your democracy in favour of corporations…
