I’m with Calvin on this one. It’s clear (to me, anyway) that excessive smarts is decidedly maladaptive.

I have met a lot of people who think like Calvin. Went to high school with many. Guess which group, the Calvin’s or Suzie’s succeeded in life.

I’m actually with Calvin on this one. Smart people I’ve met are often very lazy, because learning is effortless for them.

Calvin hasn’t a clue has he?

Go figure, Calvin.

I had an aversion to working that hard at her age.

I was a Susie type at that age … I knew that there was a LOT that I didn’t know and I wanted to know. Now, on the other hand, I know that there is a LOT that I don’t know, but I don’t have the time to learn it all, so I don’t care. Amazing the difference a mere 60-odd years makes, isn’t it?

Taking a strip too seriously, of course, but it’s obvious in the comic as a whole that Calvin is smart. He’s just going to have to learn at some point that raw intelligence isn’t enough.It’s the handwritten notes that seem anachronistic in this strip.

Whose head do you think is rounder, Susie, or Charlie Brown?

Suzie has the study habits of a college student. Calvin seems more like a normal six-year-old.

I just hope whatever Calvin has isn’t contagious.

To understand some instructional manuals, one has to read them twice.

It’s only work if you don’t enjoy doing it. Personally, I can’t think of anything I’d rather do than learn something new or master something I’ve already learned.

I’ve re-read this strip a couple of times, and now I think I understand it. ;)

It looks like Calvin was the main recipient of Hobbe’s Frank Exchange of Ideas.

In my trade, I sometimes have occasion to tell people that I’m an autodidact. Much of the time, in response, they’ll then ask, “What’s an autodidact?” I just hand them a dictionary.

This arc is absolutely hilarious! I love that Hobbes is in love with Susie.

I’m well past prime (a plugger by some standards) and hardly a day goes by I don’t learn something new!.Today might be one of those days…

Sometimes you don’t see the solution on the first try. It is the same thing with work. I can’t reconcile a bank statement. Then later I reconcile it.
