Yes she has used speech writers. Yes she has used a teleprompter. That is typical of those who give speeches. Palin and so many of her faithful have ridiculed the use of those two tools for years, ironic.
The Half-Baked Alaskan IS the gift that keeps on giving. Sadly, she also is an ongoing joke (one of many, actually) that makes a mockery of our political system by her very presence. John McCain will have a lot of splainin’ to do when he meets his Maker.
The cartoon refers to Ms. Palin’s speech to the Iowa conservative love-fest. Her teleprompter broke and her talk became even more disjointed than it already was. But you wouldn’t know about that. Because you’re an uninformed right-wing zealot. Don’t worry. I’ll wait.
When Obama is off the teleprompter, there are a lot more uhs and ahs in his speeches, otherwise, there is no difference. The written speech has been edited, the extempore has to be mentally edited while speaking to avoid the deadly “misspoke” syndrome.
“Funny, I seem to recall a certain darker-skinned person who took at least 4 years before even attempting to wean himself off his teleprompter. Can you kindly direct me to your cartoon lampooning his use of this aid to public speaking?”He didn’t need to. The conservative cartoonists were drawing those. Quite a few conservative posters on these fora latched on to that meme as well.
When Obama speaks impromptu he sounds to me like a college professor. That’s not a compliment, just a description. The ums and ahs come from trying to marshal thoughts. College professors can get away with ums and ahs because they have a captive audience. I speak from experience. Obama could be more glib, for sure, if he just repeated talking points. But most of the time he’s pretty thoughtful and he gives the feeling of a person who is thinking as he speaks, not just regurgitating lines, which was Reagan’s style. When Obama is speaking from a script he’s pretty good. Not as good as Mario Cuomo, but pretty good. In either situation he’s better than any of the Republicans.

Show me a speech by Obama that’s as gibberingly incoherent as Palin’s recent speech. I’ll wait.

The definition of “broken teleprompter” is eerily similar to the one for “teleprompter loaded with Palin’s thoughts”…

Several people responded and I see no rebuttal from you. Should we continue waiting?

At Gettysburg, in November 1863, orator Edward Everett spoke for two hours with only one page of notes. No teleprompter.

She sure got the attention off how bad the Steve King Iowa Summit was.

Seems to me that a lot of politicians of all stripes have been using “waffle” irons as their teleprompters… and not just recently.
