Schroeder’s life divides into two things: “his music” and “things that interfere with his music.” The latter category divides into “Lucy” and “everything else.”
I KNEW IT!!! instead of the March 1968 Peanuts strip where Lucy tells Schroeder “This is Leap Year” (although 2015 is not a leap year, the next leap year is next year in 2016) we get this Peanuts strip originally from April 1, 1959 and previously rerun in 2006!
In one strip from the 1957-1958 complete collection, Lucy scolds Charlie Brown for some reason or other. (I don’t have it handy.) The final panel, Lucy says, “Why how you talk, Charlie Brown to somebody who might someday be the mother of your children.” Charlie Brown looks very sick indeed in his tender tummy…..
Beethoven tried, but he wasn’t cut out to be a great lover. He tried to take one of his crushes for a ride, and ended up awkwardly explaining himself to her husband.

He had a few ladies that he fancied, but was never able to marry any of them, and has no children of his own.

In panels two and three she’s gazing dreamily at his hair. Except through abstract comic art logic, she certainly can’t see his face from that angle.

And here I thought “Beethoven” was a lovable Saint Bernard…

This is one of the best Lucy-Schroeder strips ever. Says so much with only one sentence.
