Good morning, Vagabonds. I spent the whole day reading “Memoirs” by Elie Weisel. I’m a slow reader and am only half way done with this 400-page book. Then I have 4 other books to read so I can dispose of them.
Howdy Vagabonds..It snowed last night, 24 degrees..Well it’s not Eighteen Hundred and Froze to Death, that was 1816. Also know as the year without a summer.Would it have anything to do with the Texas Revolution?.Ya’all have a great day..ttfn
Sorry. When I woke up this morning, it was April. But now that I’ve had my coffee. It’s gone back to being March again. The Battle of San Jacinto was fought on April 21, 1836. My bad.
David, there was a meeting of the Statistical Society of London on 3/21/1836. Does that count?

Well, yesterday was a bust. The plumber never showed up and when I went to pick up the RV, I forgot the keys. Oh well, I guess I’ll try again next week sometime.
Had a terrible day yesterday. First, the back yard flooded because of the over abundance of rain. So I went out in the rain to dig a trench to let the water run into the community drainage ditch. Later, a pipe burst in the garage and spewed water all over the place. So when I went to move the car so I could clean the place up, I discovered that I had left the door open and the battery was dead. I couldn’t push it because you can’t put it in neutral unless the motor is running. I couldn’t jump it, because it’s only a one car garage. So I called a neighbor and borrowed his battery charger. Left it on all night. Fortunately the leak was between the valve and the sink, so I could just turn it off. So this afternoon, I’ll have to clean the garage and tomorrow I’ve got plumbing to do.
Good morning good people..With the thermometer showing single digits it is rather cool in these parts..This morning my sister and I were talking about our grandmother’s making of hooked rugs. She used scrap cloth instead of yarn to create each one.She also made braided rugs.Grammy is long since gone, but, we still have her rugs..Hum, Palm Sunday next week, were has our year gotten to, almost a quarter gone. (shee).Have a really good day all.
We’ve been spending tons of time just catching up with the family. They went skiing/snowboarding yesterday and then again today. The ski place is closing for the season today, so there will be the party atmosphere for them. I made a full blown roasted chicken with stuffing, mashed potatoes, peas, carrots, and mushrooms and gravy (the girls don’t like mushrooms, so I had to separate it). It felt like a Thanksgiving dinner!
We have two braided rugs from an old neighbor, Mark. When she passed, we were given those two, and two very very old egg crates………wire square baskets that many flats of 36 eggs would be stored for shipping from chicken ranches. We have used these crates for all kinds of stuff for over 40 years! They are treasures, and we call them Clara’s rugs. She was a dear…………one of those down home country type woman.
I have a beautiful braided rug in my dining room. We bought it online just after we moved here, and it covers the tile floor nicely. My grandmother made braided rugs and rag rugs, but somehow I never got one of them. Ah well, I do love the one I have.
Good day Vagabonds.Didn’t post yesterday as I was helping my son-in-law record a men’s conference. There were about 1200 men there. We sold quite a few DVD’s and CD’s so it was a long day and I was very tired when I got home.As to hooked and braided rugs, my mother made quite a few in her life time. I still have some although they are well worn. Some we had to throw out as they were too far gone.
