I got lucky and get to live in a little house on a little lake. I’ll never leave here unless it’s feet first on a stretcher….

I hope to never retire. Tried it for a year – it’s not me.

It’s not where you are. It’s who you’re with.

Arlo’s first line made me cringe. The Bahamas is alright to visit, but you don’t wanna live here.

As I’ve joked to my wife: “When I retire, I want to spend the summers in Phoenix and the winters in Buffalo. Or maybe the other way around.”

My husband was born and raised here in south Florida so I asked him where he wanted to retire since he’s already lived his life in a vacation place. His answer: Canada or Alaska.

Hubby retired in 1955, and volunteered to help the Property Manager at our church. He finally decided he was going to have to die, move, or get a real job, if he was ever going to have any spare time. He chose the latter, fortunately. We bought this house when we married, and like Varnes, we will only leave feet first.

l’ve become a computer addict in retirement (in case you didn’t notice), but I did something so gah-ROCE day before yesterday, that I’m motivated to cut down. I finally gave in and looked at twenty-four two-panel photos of people in Walmart. It took eleven to almost twenty seconds for each panel to load, so it took heaps of time. I tried to stifle my schadenfreude, but didn’t succeed entirely. I sometimes tell myself, “You’re a pig!” kind of lovingly, but this time I meant it. Got stuff to do, and gotta sign off till the end of day.

My view of retirement…..The hours are great! The pay kinda sucks…..Flossie, that is the sweetest feeling. People from Illinois and Indiana drive a long way to get here, to swim, to fish, to boat, to party and mow the lawn at their second house….I see them pack up and leave on Sunday…I get to stay….

You are a success when you finally realize you already have all you ever dreamed of.
