    That’s the Penrose triangle, invented by Lionel and Roger Penrose. They told Escher about it and he used it in many of his pictures.When I Wikipediated ‘Penrose triangle’ I learned that ‘It was first created by the Swedish artist Oscar Reutersvärd in 1934.’Great cartoon.
