Bless you for helping the little homeless beasties! As MiHorn said, straw makes a better bed. If you do a search for making a simple outdoor shelter for feral cats, you can easily find videos/directions for using totes and Styrofoam coolers to make a snug, warm little house. Happy 2015 to all!!

And unknown, but bout to make breaking news. Three cans of tuna cat food are about to be opened.

An insulated covered litterbox makes a great outdoor shelter-just tape up any venelation slits on the top of the hood and add comfy bed. Bubble wrap is a good flexible waterproof insulator also. Love Lupin’s paws in panel 5.

I made an outdoor cathouse (hah) one winter, and a skunk moved into it. So watch out for that!

I have a BIG (22 pounds) rescue kitty here; my vet brought Cougar to me a year ago, after he rescued him. Stray, horrible cat fight, and 3 surgeries to get him put back together. Now he’s neutered, chipped, vaxed — and FIV-positive, which is why my vet brought him to me. He knows I’ll keep him safe and healthy, for as long as possible. Yesterday, Cougar climbed into an empty box for the first time! The look on his face was priceless; it was obvious he was discovering the joys of a box! LOL!!! :-D

Glue the top on a Styrofoam cooler. Turn it over and cut a mousehole door in. Lay a couple layers of bubble wrap down, cover with straw, towels, fuzzy blankets. Anything they can snuggle into and keep warm. I get remnants of fleece at a fabric store and use those too. Happy New Year!
