I doubt that had much of an effect on the results. It was mostly his poor choice of Sarah Palin for VP. And it pales in comparison to the “Swift-boating” of John Kerry.
By the Bye….when Ann Richards was running for re-election for governor of Texas, Mr. Rove started (and kept active) a rumor that Ms. Richards is a lesbian. Facts are unimportant; appearance is everything. Ms. Richards, a practicing heterosexual, lost that election. Mr. Bush won, and he and Mr. Rove moved up and…the rest is history, except to those who believe that history stops as soon as you move out of the White House.
To the ’toon: One is a vicious coward, greedy, and violently insane; the other has PTSD. One should be in prison with no “amenities”, the other has been. One praises torture, the other has endured it.
I didn’t vote for McCain because I disagreed with his position on a lot of issues, but torture wasn’t one of them.

It’s good to remember Karl Rove’s Republican bloodlines — he grew up, politically speaking, in the 1972 Nixon campaign. He was part of CREEP.
But, of course, It’s OKAY If A Republican Does It!
