When I wrote for the RUGRATS comic strip, we weren’t allowed to use the word ‘stupid,’ as it was hurtful. We could say ‘dumb.’ That was okay. The one time an exception was made was when Angelica was interrupted before finishing. It was allowable to write ‘stu…’ There were a lot of rules.
