If an article might run in the wash, put a handkerchief in the dark wash then add the suspect colour. If the handkerchief changes colour, don’t put the offending article in with light stuff again..Personally, I find most colours are fine, but be suspicious of red.

My mom got a panicked phone call from a dorm laundry one day. Seems my brother (who is about seven years older than I) came up with pink underwear and didn’t know how it happened — but all his classmates laughing at him in the background did. Should’ve called before starting the wash, like this kid did.

I’d say darks. BUT… if it’s a white shirt that has plaid, with whites.

Easier to buy your clothing in one or two colours. Same goes for the fabric. Including underclothing. This way, no sorting needed.
