Oh, yes. I had to buy more ornaments after my daughter moved out because half of them were hers from her years at home.

My mother and I used to travel together. We always tried to buy an ornament from every where we went. I have a tree full of memories.

Christmas ornaments are like dear old friends that come to visit every year. Those that have become faded and chipped over the years are treasured all the more. When one that we’ve had for decades breaks, the sadness is palpable.I know that Christmas ornaments are just things, but it’s what those things represent.

I am starting a tradition with my nieces and nephews where I buy them an ornament for every Christmas. When they are old enough, (since they are all 3 and under), I am going to have them make his or her own ornament box to hold them. When they move out, they will have ornaments for his or her first tree.
