Been there, done that; crappy first job. Not only did I learn how to pile the crap but I had to befriend dogs that would later be euthanized because they were deemed unadoptable.
The shelter had both cats and dogs who were euthanized for various reasons, type of breed, poor or aggressive behavior, some were given up by previous owners and failed to adapt to their new environment. Most dog breeds were euthanized to prevent someone from ‘fighting’ them. Most of the time it was just that there was a limited amount of space and after being there for 6 or 7 business days room needed to be made for incoming animals. I was often relied on to make friends with the aggressive animals so the meeker personal did not have too. When it came time, I had preferred that they pass away in the arms that cared for them than on the street or in an empty yard alone.
I believe that in Iceland, they use Fallabella ponies as “guide dogs”. They live for about 30 years and are very small, about 32 inches high..I have had GSDs and can concur that they are very smart, soppy, faithful. My last dog, a Cocker Spaniel had to be put down at the age of 13, as she suffered from dementia.
I wished for the JETS to lose last night and for Vick to get creamed….can’t get over it still.Kenny and Will…now I could be thankful for those boys! Iggy and Tucker too.
