One of the best depictions of Santa ever, Raymond Briggs “Father Christmas,” showing Santa’s annual rounds and the physical toll it takes on him, had a great panel showing a glass or bottle of wine with a note saying “Dad says help yourself,” and Santa is doing just that. I imagine THAT kid got everything he wanted and a few extras thrown in as well!
I believe Linus asked after Santa’s health. Then, years later, Sally Brown got into a panic over Santa being out of shape, and the possibility that he might have a heart attack.
One night of flying. That doesn’t mean Santa just lays around when he’s at the North Pole. Elves or no, there’s still a lot of work for him to do. He has to make his list. He has to check it twice…
