Howdy Vagabonds..8 o’clock, just dragged myself out of bed, now if I can get my eyes to open..Not a lot happening, I’ll be going out find food soon..“A question, for untold centuries I have awaited a question.” (Star Trek/tos- “City on the Edge of Forever” sort of).And my question is, can you name the actors who have played Mr E. Scrooge over the years? (i can’t help thinking i asked this once already).Well I’ll be getting ready to go..ttfn

    Good Morning, Vagabonds,

We’re recovering as well. Our cleaning lady comes this morning, and rather than going out in the snow and icy roads, we decided to stay home and out of her way.

We watched an old musical last night…….we DVR’d it from a “retro” movie channel……“The Farmer Takes a Wife”. It starred Betty Grable and Dale Robertson, John Carroll and Thelma Ritter. Well, with Betty Grable in it, we thought it might be good…………..well………………not the case! Really poor writing, horrible songs, and way too long of a film. The only bright spot was seeing Gwen Verdon do a dance number (uncredited), and Julie Newmar was in the chorus (uncredited). 1953.

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

I’m not sure who else played Scrooge, but I own copies of:Patrick StewartGeorge C. ScottAlistair Sim (my favorite)Michael Caine (Muppets)Alan Young (Scrooge McDuck – Mickey’s Christmas Carol)Jim Carrey (animated)Albert FinneySusan Lucci (Ebbie Scrooge – a department store magnate)And then there is Bill Murray (I don’t own this one.)

Last year we watched all but the Albert Finney version and definitely OD’ed on them. This year we chose to watch one “silly” version (musical or cartoon) and one serious. Finney’s is definitely in the silly category and we will watch Patrick Stewart this afternoon. There’s one huge production number in the Finney version that goes: “Thank you very much, thank you very much. That’s the nicest thing that anyone’s ever done for me.” and they are talking about Scrooge DYING! (Honestly it made me think of what Jesus has done for me. And I do say “Thank you very much!”)

It’s gonna be a quiet day today. Mike left this morning and the cats are trying to figure out if it is safe to come out of the bedroom. Blaze got so desperate on Wednesday not wanting to brave the dog to get to the litter box that he jumped up on the bed and peed all over Michael. We moved the litter box into our bathroom immediately (and food and water) and kept the bedroom door shut when the dog was out and about.
