Good morning, Vagabonds. Today my synagogue is having a Chanukah party: I love latkes but I’m not so keen on jelly doughnuts. On top of that, I’ve been in Miami only 10 days and am fighting a cold; Miami apartments have poor central heating and the cold weather in New York didn’t bring this on.

    Morning, Vagabonds.

I got to see my friend in Houston one more time before he departs this world. We had a good visit and had a prayer with him. I’ll be surprised if I learn he survived the night.

Alex, I loved the video! I did not know about Billy the Kid, so I’ll have to research that one. I’m trying right now to chase down the masonic link with Wyatt Earp, but so far haven’t found much. What I am really proud to say is that early Texas was a bastion of Freemasonry. The video mentioned the heroes of the Alamo: Travis, Bowie, Crockett, Dickinson, and Bonham. We can add the names of Moses Austin, Stephen F. Austin, and Sam Houston. We are also proud to state that every president and every vice-president of the Republic of Texas was a mason!

We just received word that our friend has passed on to be with the Lord. I’m so glad we drove to Houston yesterday to tell him goodbye.

Alex and David………..when we went to the Bannack State Park Ghost Town last summer, we saw a two story old school house. The lower level was the schoolhouse, and the upper level was a Mason’s meeting room. I’ll try to find the picture to get the numbers off of their insignia on the building. The Mason’s built the building for the community.

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

Alex, that was a very interesting video. The men in my family have been Masons for a very long time. All of the men for several generations back were Masons, and my mother, aunts and grandmothers were either Job’s Daughters or Rainbow Girls and all were Eastern Star. My dad, especially, was deeply involved – a patron of the Demolay for more than 50 years, 33rd degree, Scottish & York Rite shrines, patron of Eastern Star and the two girls groups. He was even a Knight Templar for the last few years of his life. Unfortunately, neither my brothers nor I were ever exposed to any of it, consequently none of us ever joined any part of it. I regret that greatly, considering how much joy and satisfaction it gave our Dad.

Arye, thank you again for the Chanukah information. Happy Chanukah!

Low 50’s this morning with an intermittant drizzle. It made the walk today very interesting. We stuck to the paved paths today and avoided the muddy graveled ones.

Off to the post office today to mail a few things. I think I will take my book with me.
