Maybe he’d get half-points for “Frankie Vivaldi?”

I should get the joke, but I don’t. The Four Seasons I recognize, but not who Andy’s friend is referring to… ;)

Mentioning Tony Vivaldi, did you know that Giuseppe Verdi was really Joe Green?

ok…I’m just stopping by to put in my two cents worth. I don’t always comment here, but I do read the forum frequently and I, too, have noticed the “flirty” banter between these two long-time regular “Cappers” is indeed getting more……risqué. And, the very long and personal posts really do not belong on the forum. Along with Number Six and beviek , it makes me uncomfortable, as well. It’s simply inappropriate for this venue.

Gweedo: it has nothing to do with being prudish, so your remark earlier was uncalled for. It has to do with appropriate behavior in a public forum…especially between a very young girl and a very much older man, who should know better. So, please…..stop.

I try to stay out of these “Palace Wars”. I can appreciate the points on both sides of the argument. At this point I think all concerned should consider ‘nuf sed’ and go on with our lives.Nobody can ‘win’ – just move along – nothing to see here.

Why don’t you find a pub/bar where you can practice your “cheeky fun”……….. maybe you’ll run into a “Andy”Then you can practice you could practice your kind of humor for you kind of people. (Does this make you a racist? probably) You should limit your personal ethnic views to Andy related items and not other world groups. How do you view yourself?

I enjoy seeing both Gweedo and Three here, and I know that others do too, or they wouldn’t be trying so hard to keep the peace here. And *BEV, I love your videos and photos here.* Thanks for making this forum lively, along with Eldo, Chalkie, six, Affie, Dry and regular Cappers. I don’t oftne comment, but I do drop in frequently, as I used to at the Village. It is just a matter of lack of spare time that I don’t join all the forums.

    Number Three….

Just had to pop in and tell you something… sorry in advence that this will probably be longish…. and that some want the topic dropped, but I haven’t seen this part discussed, so I’m putting it on Friday’s forum,. I know you feel somehow insulted by the postings today…

People are saying they feel uncomfortable, but I need to talk about SAFETY.

You must know that the people on this forum care about you… Bev certainly does, and believe it or not, so do I.

You’re rightfully proud of the fact that you’re growing up… and that’s great. But… it takes a long time to recognise that adulthood goes beyond age, employment or maturing physical assets.

You said to Bev that you “ALWAYS give careful consideration to (your) image”, would “rather die than post explicit stuff” and that it isn’t your fault if “decide to take it the wrong way.”

But PLEASE… look around. Do you see any other women, young or old, announcing that they’re wearing very short skirts, or that seeing them in tight, wet T-shirts would be a treat? We don’t because we know it’s not only inappropriate, but UNSAFE.What would you think if Bev or I did it?What about a younger teenager… especially to a man admittedly 40 years older?Wouldn’t you be a bit concerned? And as Bev mentioned… would you be ashamed or uncomfortable if your parents ever saw your posts? Would they?ALWAYS REMEMBER: They might!THREE people from my past have very unexpectedly turned up and said hello to me in the comics forums.. One is a friend of a friend I only met a couple of times about 15 years ago and 400 miles away! They recognised me because Susan Sunshine is sort of similar to my real name…. and I guess I still make the same sort of jokes. So THINK about it … What if your mother’s best friend’s sister or your cousin’s girlfriend, or some other distantly connected person, out of the blue, read the forum and said to your mother “Isn’t THIS your daughter??”NEVER say anything here you’d be embarrassed about if that happened. I’m glad you don’t say exactly where you live. But your first name is unusual enough for someone to remember. You’ve posted what type of shop you work in and even your shift times. And your real picture. And that you like grey hair and wear sexy clothes.I hardly read this forum and I’ve seen all that, so I don’t know how much more information you’ve given.Though AFAIK, you wisely don’t e-mail Gweedo privately…. I HOPE… and though, truly, I would never believe he intends you harm…you REALLY don’t know who else reads your posts… I don’t want to scare you…. but again… THINK. Only a small fraction of people who READ these forums are registered at GoComics … and even fewer ever post. Some crazy old man reading this forum might even live right in your street, and recognise your face or name, and see you out walking…. or go searching similar shops to try to find you. Unlikely, yes…. impossible…. NO.No one is trying to deny that you’re maturing… It’s simply instinct…. we feel a duty help keep ALL the members of our little “herd” safe… especially the younger ones while they’re learning to fly on their own.

And Gweedo… I do believe your intention is to be a nice guy….I don’t want you to leave; I haven’t flagged you.

And believe me, I’m not a prude, and I’m not looking for attention from you myself… I’m simply asking you to step back, and look at yourself as you might view a stranger,,,,,and think about how your words might influence a much younger person to say or do unsafe things.

I mean…. if you were sitting in a local watering hole….even a public park…and saw a stranger…. a grey haired fellow, obviously over 50, flirtatiously telling a naive looking young lady, obviously under 21, but trying to act provocative, that she had the qualities he was looking for in a partner…

Or that he appreciated her invitation to come keep her warm….Are you telling me you would think only “Oh, what adorable harmless flirtation?”

    Really??

You would have no instinct to rescue her, to advise or protect her?

Cos to those of us looking on, it’s like you’re sitting next to us here in the pub, and we’re helplessly watching a train wreck…. and I hope you can understand why that very instinct kicks in hard.

    Thanks.
