It’s because he’s not wearing anything….She didn’t expect him to ask her to dress up differently…. She thought they’d always share…… always be sole mates.
Shower slides was a popular name, but as a kid they were thongs. Late 50s and early 60s. Didn’t wear them often, couldn’t run in them, and sports were impossible. Mostly beach wear.
as a kid in japan, mid 50s, they were zoris, a sandal version of the, then ubiquitous, getas. they even had socks (the name of which I’ve forgotten) with a split for the big toe for colder weather. they were made of anything handy, but the most numerous were straw, cheap and utilitarian.

Aussies call them ‘thongs’ , Americans call them ‘flip-flops’, and a whole heap of different names are used in other countries

That’s the problem with flat feet. Nothing fits right.

You don’t fell sexy because, from the looks of things, neither one of you is having it.

Being a California girl, whatever you call them, they have always been a part of my shoe wardrobe.

I’ve seen them made out of old tires. I wear mine every day and if they were allowed at work, I’d never go without them.
