Everyone's so used to seeing everything through glass. Windows in the house, at work and in the car, screens on your phone... Your home computer, your work computer, the ATM, the television- everything is on the other side of the glass. Yep. Sad. On the other hand, we could ship a bunch of people to moon bases, and they'd never notice!

I think if we ever colonized other planets, it would be in the same vein as England colonizing Australia: we’d send our prisoners with the costs justified by the cost of their keep on earth, and if we lost a few in transit or in a bubble burst, the collective response would be “no great loss”.
