I am so tired of ILLEGAL DRIVERS being allowed to continue to use our roads even after they are caught BREAKING THE LAW. What part of ILLEGAL do people not understand? And then there is this thing of euphemistically calling them “speeders” or “unlicensed drivers” or “uninsured drivers” or calling their ILLEGAL activity “traffic violations,” as though BREAKING THE LAW were some kind of trivial misbehavior, that can be settled by them paying a fine. A fine? For BREAKING THE LAW? That’s nothing but AMNESTY under a different name. To allow these CRIMINALS on our roads after they have demonstrated they have no respect for the LAW is a travesty of justice. If you’re going to let them pay a fine for this kind of ILLEGAL activity, what’s next? Fines for robbery, murder, rape, and arson? CRIME is CRIME after all. You can’t prevent them from COMMITTING CRIMES by slapping their wrists! And remember, it is a proven fact that someone who is prepared to BREAK one LAW, will be willing to BREAK ALL LAWS. Let the punishment fit the CRIME: these people ought to be arrested, taken back to their homes, and forbidden to so much as set foot on a public road, or even sidewalk, ever again. Instead, most of the time these SCOFFLAWS go uncaught, and if they are caught, a cop merely pulls them over, writes them a so-called “speeding ticket” or something like that, and in ten minutes they are back on the road! THIRTY THOUSAND people a YEAR die on our roads, and ALL those lives would be saved if all these CRIMINALS were banished forever from our roads. Those who let them continue driving after BREAKING THE LAW have blood on their hands. To say nothing of the resources they consume while LAUGHING at the LAWS OF THIS COUNTRY: if none of these people were allowed to leave their houses, gas prices would fall, automobile prices would fall (all those extra cars could be sold), and with fewer cars on the roads, the cost of road maintenance and building would decline. But bleeding hearts would rather bleed the honest taxpayer and lawful driver than see their precious “speeders” and “jaywalkers” (let’s not forget them) be actually punished for their CRIMES. Let this truly be the LAND OF THE FREE: but only for those who always and at every moment OBEY THE LAW.

A person flees his homeland for fear of grinding poverty, oppression, and violence from criminals (in uniform or not). If you sympathize with him, he is a REFUGEE. If you don’t, he is an ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT. Other countries get refugees. The U.S. only gets illegal immigrants.

The Simpsons aired an episode some years ago in which the “immigrants” from Ogdenville WERE hired to build the wall to keep them out.

What does doughfoot propose? It sounds like if someone is caught speeding five miles over the limit he should immediately be incarcerated for a few year or shot at the side of the road. While I might agree with this for repeat DUI offenders, it is a bit harsh for the rest of us.

Doughfoot’s first comment was done in the same tone & spirit of the 1st comment by Michael.I liked them both (both commentators and both of Doughfoot’s comments).

Sometimes I give way to sarcasm and satire. I was trying to point out the absurdity of the absolutist arguments made about illegal immigration. My entire first posting here was intended to be ridiculous, to point out the ridiculousness of many right-wing expressions I have heard about illegal immigrants. Perhaps I need an alter-ego for such postings. The pen name Jonathan Swift might be to the point.

Thank you for the gracious reply & explanation.

I thought the tltr post a filibuster type of response actually! Likewise, as you with Doughfoot, I thought the reply as highly unusual coming from you as your posts are amongst the ones I’m sure to read.“100s of mattresses”= Princess and the pea/size of a pea. ;-)
