It’s truly embarrassing that the GOP senator’s only policy goal for the next two years is to destroy the presidency of Barack Obama. You’d think that with all of the problems facing America they could find one thing they could work with him on, instead of using extortion by government shut down. Get read for another round of “we have to get something, and I don’t even know what that is.”

I still remember Romney would be President. I think the Republicans has the same chance Romney has to be President.

I say dump them all. If a majority of Congress people were interested in getting something done vs getting re-elected we would have got something done. Washington need fresh blood on both sides of the aisle.

I guess if you think they are doing what is best for the country, you should vote for them. Considering the dismal track record of the Congress over the last few years, it is hard to imagine they are doing anybody and good.

It’s kind of like Israel and Palestine. They refuse reasonable compromise that would do both sides some good and the Tea party keeps launching rockets.

The Republicans in congress are doing their job very well. If they can’t accomplish anything that Obama won’t veto, then they can stall so that the Democrats can’t accomplish anything either. Their intention is to keep everything just as it is, unless they can manage to return to the “good old days” of the 19th century, before there was a middle class and when only the landed gentry were voters. And, they have a great strategy for accomplishing this. 1. Disenfranchise everyone you possibly can, unless they are dependable Republican voters.2. Produce ads and media emphasis which emphasizes those politicians who are corrupt and incompetent. Paint all Democrats with the same slime. Lacking sufficient actual slime, simply make some up. This undermines the people’s trust in their government and makes them feel like helpless pawns, so they tune out the whole process and accept the status quo. 3. Support the “job creators”, who are the recipients of a huge portion of the GNP, although that GNP was produced by working people, who are receiving less benefit from it every day. This gives them the money to accomplish the other two goals, and leaves everyone except the “job creators” with increasingly less money to mount a counter campaign. So, this is the way we are going lose the middle class and become a country inhabited only by the very rich 1%, and a 99% who are too busy working two jobs to survive to notice.

Clark Kent: It could have been, but the Federalists insisted that only those with an acre of urban or section of rural land could be trusted with a vote. After all, most of the civilized world lives under democratic socialism. (Plus the most money I ever made was under the Barrett government in British Columbia.).If the Republicans get a majority in the Senate, they will proceed with impeachment, conviction, and removal of Obama, then Biden will become president and get the same treatment, leaving Böhner to become dictator and take us back to the 19th century.

Harry Reid has blocked more than 350 bills passed by the House of Representatives. 98% of those bills were passed with bipartisan support:-http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/08/01/do-nothing-congress-house-passed-more-than-350-bills-that-sit-on-harry-reids-desk-says-congresswoman/-If Tom Toles were truly interested in hitting the mark of this issue with clear-eyed precision (or intellectual honesty) he would acknowledge that a lot of the responsibility for Congressional gridlock lies with the Democrats.

While I don’t care for Harry Reid, it’s MItch and the morons on his side with filibusters (over 400) that have kept the train off the track. The House Republicans forwarding idiotic bills they know won’t pass the Senate haven’t helped, in fact, voting AGAINST the bills that THEY WROTE should be a clue how insane their opposition has been???
