Honey does a wonderful job. ;) what a lovely buffet is before them. Many years after this strip we would see the tienamen square incident which was also long ago. I have heard there are still some rumblings of hunger for democracy there today, though who knows if it would happen. China is so large and complex.

The ‘Nixon in Watt’ strip was the classic in translating political speeches.

Why is it all religion’s fault? Unless the religion is Corporatism. I don’t think religious people necessarily want to cede this country to the megarich. Just sometimes, fundamentalism goes along with a party that considers itself the owner of “family values”. Are the ChiComs religious? I don’t think so, they don’t even worship Mao any more.

We saw a really chilling program on North Korea last night. Makes Orwell’s 1984 look pale by comparison.

In all the years I’ve been reading Doonesbury, this strip stands out as one of the funniest ever. Makes me laff out loud.

Belief in the superiority of central planning is a form of religion, having only faith to support it. China’s overlords are worthy of praise for realizing this fact and rejecting it in the light of evidence all to the contrary.

September 04, 2009.Mr. Trudeau – that was funny as Satan spinning on a spit – and essential for a Doonesbury script.I would hope that one day, CBS or Miramax would find the onscreen talent to breathe life into characters like these – and if I may be so bold, I’m not sure if the talent pool has ever been so deep – if only Hollywood would get the spirit of “America the Hilarious” again – these characters are priceless and endowed with endless possibility. Here’s my first thought – it’s comics – it’s dream cast. Mike Doonesbury – Tom Cruise. At last a role he was born to play this decade. The haircut, the graying lines, the glasses, the narrative. Boy wonder and his girl.B.D.? Micheal McConaghey. Zonker Harris? Brad Pitt.Uncle Duke? Christian Bale – but you make him shorter – I’m thinking a “Dorf” bit. See ? It’s funnier ALREADY.Jimmy Thudpucker? Bradley Cooper. Cali Rocker – any guests? Who doesn’t work today? Joe Walsh? NO. It’s funny – in a few notes.Boopsie? Alexandra Daddario with proper eye makeup could make a stunning blonde – a certain “fog” in her EYES make the argument for the visual – she’s likely to pull off the laughs.Lacy Davenport? Angelina Jolie, “aged” 50-uh? in proper wardrobe – she can project – think Newman in ‘Blaze", but the ladies have the floor.Honey Huan? Emma Watson, pulling a “Show of Shows” kinda delivery, and looking very dapper in her Commie hat and duds, and kooky make-up and hair. Reason? “Awkward” Honey doesn’t play on screen quite as well as “Adorable” Honey – in her way – Duke IS a mess sometimes…hahaCall me…
