The people warming the chairs in Washington are responsible for it being broken.
So many of them have been re-elected so many times that they have totally forgotten what the average American has to face every day. Washington is broken because of it’s own greed and thirst for power.
Incumbents…be afraid….very afraid. Americans are tired of business as usual…and they know you are the reason why it is.
David and Neocn- the real problem is NOT the “people warming the seats in D.C.” it is the morons sitting on their brains at home who continue to ELECT them! Just getting a candidate to run against “incumbents” is also stupid if who your picking isn’t smarter, faster, and better, than who they might replace.
Find and elect qualified candidates- regardless of party- folks who care about the country, not the party, and we may get somewhere.

The basis of this strip is that they are ALL at fault, and all of us as well for being suckered in and ignorant of each politician’s agenda and history. “The party of NO” eight years ago was the Democrats when the Republicans had the same majority in Congress as the Democrats had this past year, and accomplished equally as little! It used to be that one side would compromise with the other. “You give in on this, and we won’t hinder that.” Then things got done, and each side showed some respect for the other. That is where we should get back to.
Not really, Loco. If you want to cite recent history, the Republicans have been the Party of No far more than the Democrats. The Republican Congress destroyed the Clinton plan (remember healthcare reform?), until he was proud of passing NAFTA, a Republican initiative if ever there was one. Not to mention undermining Clinton by ridiculous slanders and a ludicrous waste of taxpayer money to “investigate” a scandal that didn’t exist.

The humor of this cartoon is that the GOP destroyed it before they demolished it.
After 8 years of Cheney/Bush there wasn’t much left, and now they want to get back into power and really finish the job.

We can see that the Karl Rove and Lee Atwater school of political winning (you only need 50% plus one) at any cost is still working.
Divide and conquer worked in ancient times, and we still fall for it.
Pick a wedge, any wedge, and you can split your opponents into two camps, and go happily about raiding the treasury unhindered.
And of course, the function of a politician is to get (re-)elected.
