Good morning Vagabonds. I finally finished reading my book on Russian history. It ends in 1936. As soon as I take some notes, I will give the book to my neighbor. I’ve had the book on my bookshelf and only now read it from cover to cover. That Ivan the Terrible was something, killing his son and heir in a fir of temper with his staff!

Yesterday, I went to the main post office and sent off a few of my new years cards.

    Good Morning, Vagabonds,

    Yes, Happy New Year, Arye.

Busy day today. Cleaning lady comes, and I’ve picked up my mess, and now I can enjoy going to the Farmer’s Market…..oh wait……it’s raining, scratch that. Hmmmm….

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

Happy Saturday to one and all (and Good Sabbath, Arye). A lazy day indeed. Tomorrow is a pot luck picnic with the church, so I need to go grocery shopping, but other than that, I plan to veg.

9PM Saturday. Temp never got above about 83, but it was a bit breezy. We kept the windows open all day and never turned on the AC. Love the new screen door, too. We haven’t been able to get away without AC since early May.

Good morning, Vagabonds. My friend drropped off about 3 weeks worth of NY Daily News including the comics. If I stay up all night going through the newspapers I hope I’ll have the energy to go to the Medieval Festival at the Cloisters in Ft. Tryon Park today.

Morning, Vagabonds. I don’t know what it’d be like, to turn off the AC and open the windows.

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

70 degrees when I got up at 6:30. Looks to be another great day.

We’re having a church potluck in the park today. I’m taking grilled hot dogs in a bed of kraut (with buns) and a pasta salad.

    Good Morning, Vagabonds,

David……..your comment, does that mean you still have to use the AC? We don’t have AC, and it sure would be great in the summer. But, with only 11 days over 90 degrees, it isn’t worth the expense.

Jan, your potluck dish brings to mind an old Polish recipe called Hunter’s Stew. It really uses up lots of leftovers, but it seems I never have these left over……anyway…….Fill a slow cooker or Dutch Oven with a big jar of sauerkraut, add a grated potato, chopped onion, and cut up the meats…….pork chop, kielbasa, bacon, ham. Add red wine, and simmer for an hour on the stove, or about 6 hours in the slow cooker. Flavors mingle, and you have a divine dish. It’s a great potluck hit.

Oh, yes. We’re still using AC. Probably will through the rest of the year, except for the few days we’ll have in December where the temperature will drop below 40. Right now it’s 86, and the AC is not running, but we have the thermostat set to come on when the inside temp gets to about 76 or so. If we turned it off, the inside temp would rise to meet the outside temp. But it’s not so much the temperature that makes it uncomfortable, it’s the humidity. If we go outside, we would be drenched in sweat inside of 10 minutes! Oh, it just came on!
