He actually said he was pretty much disgusted with BOTH sides and “politics” wasn’t worth it any more with all the dirt being thrown, and because he wanted to serve the PEOPLE.
Good for Bayh. He should save himself from the toxic climate of DC. Fighting long and hard is one thing, but fighting a hopeless battle long and hard is another. It’s wearing, draining on a person’s spirit to be stuck between two mortal enemies.
I am stunned and saddened. He and his father, good men. My Senators.
My initial reaction was not unlike parker’s. When the bastards are getting to you, don’t walk. Fight back. Hang in.
A fine governor. A dedicated and sincere public servant. The comments I have read lead me to conclude, like trout, he truly perceived that his talents were wasted in the current political morass.
I rarely like Varvel, but this is a good one. The Democrats who cave into lobbyists are as despicable as the Republicans who simply want to shut down the country for their own selfish reasons, but at least the GOP was elected by people who want four years of depression and failure to usher in some imagined Golden Age. The Democrats are ignoring the wishes of their own supporters, and this in, indeed, disheartening. Who has the guts to fly the plane, when the good ones are tired of fighting an endless, pointless battle?
^ Many of us sincerely want to see the problems solved but not by the big inefficient Federal government. Keep the tax dollars at home and let the states spend their own money on their own problems. And you save the 50 cents/$1 wasted by the federal government.
