Most Indians I know have no problem with the name, it was considered an honor and most Indians seem to know that but there are a few professional protesters who want to stir up trouble, that’s where they get their money.
Since the team wasn’t in WASHINGTON for all those years, it obviously has had its name changed before. (Snyder, by the way, is one of the worst owners in sports just in terms of his incompetence.)

Why not go the other way and call the team the Washington Honkies? Why, fans could even use this cheer:
“White-breadDeadhead,Slower than a donkey.Come on,Washington,Shout out for the Honkies!”
