No odder than in Nam. I remember a couple where only some feather merchant in DC had to have known who they EVER were. “Oooookay, so you were a one-hit wonder who hit #39th in the charts for 1 wk in 1957, eh?”

    I dunno, man… I got a bad feeling about Jimmy’s wellbeing on this trip…

Love “Crisis”, tho - looks like a combination of Hulk Hogan & Randy Savage

Sorry if I haven’t been keeping up with the WWE, NASCAR, or an old Doonesbury character (boy, did he let himself go!).

Actually it’s right in line with most USO shows out in the hinterlands. Usually groups no one has heard of plus a sprinkling of past their prime acts, and every once and again an up to date popular act. It’s a rare event to get someone who’s currently hot on the charts to show up.

III has Dale Jr. on speed dial. Bet he’s got a million endorsements and no title, too. Now, if he could just get a date with Danica…

Regardless, the USO does terrific work, unlike the Red Cross who only asked for donations. Unless you count the pretty young RC worker who sent $10,000 in cash back to the states after being in Korea for a month. The USO used to visit us in the Korean DMZ for bingo until a gunfight broke out one night.

    Or Joey Heatherton!

Well, she’s still around, but not quite as we remember her.

We got a miniaturized version of “Up With People.” A lot of current stand-up comics are following Bob’s lead.

“Havoc” would make a great WWE stage name - if the CIA didn’t have first dibs already.

Speaking of which, Redfern doesn’t have a code name yet. I bet Havoc has a few ideas…

    Hey Joe,

I was living on Hickam then. Did you run into any tall, skinny, 12 year old, dorky looking kids (male) there?

Hey, Thudpucker, long time no see! So he had a kid? I don’t remember that. Can you believe, there have actually been large periods of my life when for one reason or another (always bad ones) I was out of touch with Doonesbury!

My HI R&R (Jan ‘70) started at Ft. DeRussy (like everyone’s), and the wife-unit and I managed to land a duplex on the beach over at Waimanolo AF Sta, a SigInt site IIRC, so it was secure, and quiet, good chow at the club. Sweet!

Rental car without a heater (who needs one there, right?) that when the rain was heavy on the way over to Kaneohe, was misting up the windshield – without a way to clear it! Head out-the-window driving, over the Pali. Been years since I thot of that!
