Good morning, vagabonds. I am surprised at how expensive New York has become: My house guest went to the Empire State Building yesterday and was charged $29 just to get to view the panorama from the 86 floor and was told it would cost more to take the elevator to the 102nd floor. I remember going to both viewing floors for the same price.

    Morning, Vagabonds.

29 Bucks!? And I complain when the San Jacinto Monument charges $5! If they keep this up, they’re going to kill the tourist trade in New York City!

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

I live in a popular tourist town, and I wouldn’t pay the prices for the touristy stuff. It costs $30 to take a half-hour ride on the new wheel just off the strip. It’s the tallest such wheel in the world, but they built it behind one of the hotels, and you waste half of the ride looking at the backside of the hotel. I suppose you could look the other way, if you like industrial parks and houses and Mt. Charleston in the distance.

That being said, today we are going up to the Strip to ride the monorail. I have no idea how much it will cost, but Michael wants to explore the area around the stops so we can find it again easily. (Why, you ask? I don’t know, I just like hanging out with my husband.)

Temp is only supposed to be around 102 today. Much better than Thursday’s 111.

    Morning, Vagabonds.

Today I’m preaching on Romans 8:26-39. One of my favorites.

Good morning Vagabonds..Was raining this morning, but quiet now..As usual not much going on..Yesterday my #&!%*#@ing computer was behaving badly again, so I didn’t make it.Two problems, #1I need a new computer, #2 I can’t afford a new computer..Let me see what you know about Voice Actors. With his squeaky kind of gravely voice this fellow supplied voices for many Disney characters over the years, best known for Winnie the Pooh, but also Kah the snake from "The Jungle Book.He also showed himself in person many shows like “Gilligan’s Island”, “Superman” and others1905 – 1992.Well that’s him, have fun with this..ttfn

    Good Morning, Vagabonds,

We are sooooooooooo glad to be back home! Two weeks is a VERY long time! But, the wedding was incredibly awesome, and it was so good to see the entire family! Our last few days on the road included your very hot Las Vegas, Jan! I don’t know how you do it! Heat is just not my thing. Where is that big “wheel”? Can you see it from the freeway? LV sure looses money on this pair of “tourists”. We only stop for gas up north at Sam’s Club. I might add, that the monsoonal clouds were a welcome relief on Friday. We passed through around 11 a.m. and it was only 99.

Speaking of gas……the highest we encountered was $4.03 for 87 octane in San Diego. The lowest was Sam’s Club in No. LV at 3.55. Home was 3.63 for 88 octane. What are some of the gas prices around your cities, Vagabonds?

There are new speed limits in Utah and Idaho……….80 mph in the areas between towns. I don’t know if Montana will be next or not.

Mark……….great question! I know who you mean, and have enjoyed him in many films, including the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland. I LOVE your trivia questions!

    Good afternoon, Vagabonds.

Since I’m usually last to this party, I’ll go ahead and answer Mark’s question.

I remember Sterling Holloway from the ancient TV series “Life of Riley” with William Bendix, and even from a couple of “Superman” episodes. He had such a great face, and I loved his voice characterizations.

Rita, that wheel is behind Caesar’s Palace and yes, it can be seen from the freeway. I can see it from the park across the street from my house! It’s an observation wheel, rather than a Ferris wheel. The one in London is called the Millennium Wheel, this one is the High Roller. It is 550 feet tall.
