That’ll do it: ego doing something simply because it can.

The bigger the hole the bigger the fish. Or is that bigger bait?

A handsaw, calipers, bare feet and sitting in the snow with only a skirt(?)/shorts.

An interesting juxtaposition of “stone-age” technologies and environmental adaption!

I don’t know why he’s got a line in the water.

If he’s ice fishing, he already caught his limit of ice.

Well, if he does land the big one, the hole should be big enough.

Puts me in mind of the story about the fishermen that died when he went ice fishing… He had a heart attack chopping a hole big enough for his boat!

If he doesn’t catch a fish, he could carve a nice one in that hunk of ice. Then he could come up with an interesting story about how he landed the rare Ice Fish. Too bad they didn’t have chainsaws back then.

They did have hammer and chisel back then, stout enough to carve stone (cf. Peter’s “broken heart”, posted a week early yesterday). That will do nicely for ice.
