It’s vital to protect one’s ecosystem.Anyone can buy air, but what happens when you run out of money for buying more money?

Especially when the Martian economy is obviously corrupt. And your job is to protect the suits (so to speak).I’m still waiting for the heroes.

this is all kind of a metaphor for current economics, as coal companies regularly sell ecofriendly power source companies up the river.

In American colonial times, the volume of the economy had exceeded the available currency for trade.What do they have to trade for an expanding economy and declining oxygen resources? Is some rich oxygen breathing no load is going to have to do his own work?

Ummm, if the oxygen level is that low, it will not support open flames. People can breathe in levels of oxygen so low that open flames cannot exist. Witness US submarines in WWII. The sailors could not smoke when under the surface for long periods – not because it wasn’t allowed, but because after a few hours the oxygen levels were too low for the cigarettes or pipes to stay lit, even with carbon dioxide scrubbing filters. Yet they could breathe without oxygen bottles. Hence, if the people need help breathing, there is not enough oxygen to support flames to burn the lab and create dense smoke.

Perhaps the O2 is coming from the supplies in the burning lab. Or: there may be some other oxidant in the lab.

Ok, I went away and came back in a week and can now appreciate the progress of the strip. Unfortunately I don’t like how it’s going. I think I’ll just skip it.
