    The name of the Deustcher Schaferhund (literally, German Shepherd Dog) was changed in 1917 to avoid the “German” reference. Otherwise, it’s the same dog, and it’s origin is NOT from the Alsace region.Rob should get the point.

    Alsatian is a handy term to put on your insurance applications, though. They were going to charge me extra on my home owner’s insurance for having two German Shepherds, but my two Alsatians didn’t bother them at all.
