Greg, you’ve created such a broad-minded character who’s able to embrace both sides of an issue without prejudice… sorta… :-) Looks as if you plan to take over where G.T. Left off, but in your own way.

If it wasn’t a Saturday, we’d be having some fun comments by now. Normally, just using the term ‘Social Studies Teacher’ would get someone on the far left and on the far right all fired up. Next time, I’ll run this kind of thing on a Monday.

Oh, well. I think I’ll go kick a beehive or something.

I’m wondering if this strip was inspired by the recent survey about the Ukraine, which asked Americans to locate Ukraine on a map and asked them several questions about the situation. The larger the inaccuracy in people’s estimate of Ukraine’s location, the more they wanted the U.S. to intervene militarily. In other words, the more ignorant they are, the more they want to fight.

The map of people’s responses regarding Ukraine’s location would be funny if it weren’t so sad — several respondents chose locations in the middle of bodies of water and apparently a half-dozen or so thought it was in the U.S. (or perhaps they didn’t know that was the USA on the map…?)

Unless the Freedom Fighters are a democratic movement and the incumbents are beholden to US corporations and/or CIA; then we fund the government.

I wonder what it would take to bring another 1860 style civil war to this country. The government tends to play the long game with rebellious factions, and with the highest incarceration rate in the world, we as a people are pretty passive and fearful of the nebulous sovereign power of the state. There’s very little your average taxpayer is willing to draw a line in the sand and die over.

“We can’t do that. The civil war’s not in our country.”

When did that ever stop U.S.?!
