@dukedoug: Yes, they switch sides depending on who is talking, but only if Bill Watterson wants to show them looking directly at each other. Yesterday, Dad looked directly at Mom a couple of times when he was talking, so he had to be drawn on the other side of the bed. Otherwise, his back would have been toward us when he was talking. It’s the same reason that Calvin’s watch switched wrists in another strip, when he was talking to Hobbes. Yesterday, Bill didn’t want to show Dad staring off into space for four panels in a row, since he was talking in all four panels.Or maybe it’s just been a restless night for Mom and Dad……Or, perhaps yesterday we were looking at Mom and Dad in the bedroom mirror……….
Probably would not have broken in unless they knew they were going to be gone. The clue was probably the wedding announcement (engagement) in the newspaper?Some thieves scan obits to know when certain people won ’t be home.
