This is the 1st time in all these years that I have actually been made to dislike Vera Alldid, rather than just see him as a jerk! Think it’s his expressions!

An animator who admires “The Invisible Tribe”! Hmmm. Well, I suppose it would be pretty easy to animate, but it seems a rather odd thing to say.

Ya know, SDM, sometimes you complain so much that I suspect you’re really my mother using an alias.

“I decided to do some serious soul searching and have come to the conclusion I have been 100% wrong! Rightwingmoran is the greatest, humblest, most intelligent and nicest commenter we have in Tracyville. He is an inspiration and role model to all of us. We should all aspire to be the type of person he is, I know I do!!!!! RWM, the world of Dick Tracy is a better place because of you. Thank you for being you!”av09 talking in his sleep!

After a thoroughly disappointing HIMYM finale, I come over to Dick Tracy and get a huge nostalgic shock that has nothing to do with Tracy.I was a boy in the early ‘80s when I came across a funny animals superhero comic book series I’d never heard of before called Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew. I bought it, read it, loved it, and kept buying it some more. And although it only lasted 20 issues, I remember it fondly. It was penciled and co-created by…Scott Shaw! Thanks, Mike & Joe, I really needed that.

I’m ready to see some hard-core Tracy villains again like BB Eyes, Mumbles or even Doubleup, Doubleup. The Nitrates just didn’t do it for me. Melies, now he had potential, bring him back ASAP. I’d like to think moonface is more than just a talker.I’d also love to see the Mole and Little Face come back to the darkside too.

Seriously, the coloring today is outstanding! The lit lamp in panel two is a nice touch! I had a Hawaiian shirt just like that one. Just as ugly!!!

I’ve heard that Joe Staton and Mike Curtis are in collaboration with Archie Comics to make a Sonic the Hedgehog/Mega Man/Dick Tracy crossover. It’s gonna be called “Worlds Collide 2”. You can read more about the crossover here: http://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ

Okay so Mr. Kolossal got an experienced, real-life animator for Vera Alldid. I’ll be watching to see how this all eventually ties in to whatever the actual thrust of this arc turns out to be….

Perhaps this strip will fulfill the desire to see Scott Shaw (I’m not using punctuation in a name) fall into an industrial smoke stack that I’ve had ever since Captain Carrot first came out.

Willy007: I’ve been saying that for over a year now! Moon Maid and Sawdust!.cpalmeresq and others: This may sound crazy, but I’m actually liking Vera Alldid the more I see of him. And I thought I had had enough of him last Sunday!.While the Scott Shaw angle flew right over my head, it is clear that Mike and Joe have a lot more fun in mind with the return of Alldid..And I also seem to remember last year, someone saying that Mike said that Junior’s women troubles are far from over… Some of us expected Mysta to steal Junior away from Sparkle – what a surprise it might be if it’s Alldid who steals Sparkle away from Junior!.Let’s face it. The Nitrates story left us hanging. There’s an Annie story lurking around the corner, promising to take up at least as much time as the Moon Maid saga did. And, for some of us, me anyway, we’re not very patiently waiting for Moon Maid to come back to center stage..But this Vera Alldid story – just may have more potential than many of us are willing to give it!

Jim Douglas alluded to this in his post above, but here are more details:The Mr. Kolossal character is originally from Little Orphan Annie. He was a big-deal movie studio owner back in 1935, when Annie had a year or so in Hollywood. I didn’t make the connection yesterday when his name was mentioned, but today, with his character appearing in the strip, I checked back to my Annie reprint book, and , sure enough, he is the same guy. Hair, moustache, nose. If anyone has access to the old 1935 strips, and could post a picture, that would be cool. It is interesting that Mike and Joe should bring in a rather obscure Annie character now, with the confirmation of an Annie crossover story scheduled for June!

People of Earth, I am very curious regarding this anomaly called Dick Tracy that has so captivated your feeble minds. Please offer an explanation regarding your fixation on his exploits. Your responses will determine whether your wretched species deserves to be ruled by me or to suffer complete destruction! Your fate is in your slimy hands!

Scott Shaw! is drawing this animated epic? If the writer is Mark Evanier they’re guaranteed a hit (although it may contain a character resembling Scrappy Doo).

SYDNEY PHILLIPS and Rightwingmoron: While no one commented on my feelings toward Vera Alldid, from your comments, I think I am not alone!.Gweedo may have said it best, that Vera Alldid is, indeed, broken pottery, along with the terribly contrived storyline in which Vera dumps his wife (Sparkle) to clear the way for Junior to marry her after Mysta’s (alleged) death!.While I was away from Dick Tracy from the mid 1970s until a couple years ago, from everyone’s comments, it does appear that Max Collins did at least as much damage to the Tracy-verse – intentionally – as Dick Locher did – unintentionally – in his last days.

No, no, no, ten billion times, NO! If they become crooks again, they will end up getting killed! :…-P

.Naw, crooks don’t die in this strip anymore, they just go up to the last panel before certain death and then tear into a new story, thus they never die just go into limbo.
