Whoops! Jim made a little boo-boo. Skeezix was found one Walt’s doorstep on Feb 14th, 1921. I don’t remember the exact date of his birth, but think it was several days earlier even though he uses Feb 14 as his birthday so maybe it was Skeezix, not Jim, that made the mistake.
My personal opinion: When Frank Nelson faded away, so did this storyline!.(I’m not a particular fan of stories of people who “can’t be hypnotized” getting hypnotized – way too predictable)
Flashbacks are what Gasoline Alley fans have been wanting since most of us weren’t born yet when the strip started. The ones that were are now nearly or past 100 years old. If there is anyone alive who actually read the first strip that would be a surprise.
Yesterday’s comment by the hypnotist about “serious hypnotism” is wildly out of place. Stage hypnotists do so purely for entertainment. Age regression should be done by a psychiatrist or psychologist, not a stage act. This man could do serious harm to Skeezix, first by inadvertently planting a post-hypnotic suggestion related to his possibly traumatic childhood, and second by airing personal facts about his life that are certainly not the business of a theater audience. Nina should be horrified by this, not egging him on.
Yes, Skeezix’ actual birth was on Wednesday, February 9, and he was found on Walt’s doorstep on Monday, February 14, which he has always treated as his official birthday.
Ca 1970 the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago had an exhibit sponsored by a lumber company that traced Skeezix’s life and how wood figured into it – like the wooden basket he was found in and the wooden ammo boxes and rifle stock of his WWII service.

This should prove interesting…a series of flashbacks?

Yes, he was found not born on Walt’s doorstep on February 14th, but that has always been his “birthday,” which is a sweet thought.

Or what students looked like after attending a class Timothy Leary was teaching. Same thing, I suppose.

He looks pretty young for being 93 years old.
