In the hands of Ms. Phelps, tea is supposed to seem dull… in the hands of Capt. Picard , it’s the “quick swish of Gatorade” before it’s time to “Engage!” ….– So, for all those saying that she was “hornswoggled” or “guilted” into doing it, this shows that it really was of her own accord …. It’s just that she’s got her own reason for doing it… – To a young teen, the appearance of a thing is crucial to it’s perception, and it’s “success” or “excitiement, attractiveness”.. To Ms. Phelps (and some others), One’s success, or contentment in life isn’t dependent upon what other people perceive you as….. quite handy, for her secret life as a “crime-fighting superheroine” and as the “Love Muse” to Mr. Fogarty!….. – But it’s no exaggeration that she really is sharing a mutual attraction for Mr. Fogarty…. They don’t let on about it, and they seem to enjoy it very much!…

IAJB: I wish Greg would get Ms. Phelps together with Mr. Fogarty again… That would be a great teaching moment for Bernice or any teenager: friendship is not dependent on age; it does depend on one’s good feelings for the other and vise versa… ;)

Forty-five years ago I took my girl to my prom and her prom (two different schools). I remember the girl, the bands that played at both proms and what we did after prom for the week ends. We went our separate ways after graduation but no regrets. I’m now 62, a grand father and still with my wife after 39 years. But oh, the memories are still there.

Heheheh…actually, if I could afford it, I Would get a knitting machine (knitting and me are mutually exclusive!). But, I like to cross-stitch…people of all ages seem to like it… I can see Mrs. Horner teaching one of the characters how to do some needlework…maybe even Bernice! ;)

Actually, tea can really be comforting…depends on which flavor you like. Personally, I like to drink some English Blend tea while the weather outside “is frightful.” We have a propane barbeque outside, and if we lose the electricity, we use that to make hot drinks. Cocoa is great, too! Now, Ms. Phelps, live a little and try a “hot toddy”… ;)

Bernice, the prom isn’t until April. How do you know someone won’t ask you? Luann and Rosa have dates already because they have boyfriends, but not everyone has a boyfriend or girlfriend even in high school.

Also, can’t girls ask boys to the prom? It wasn’t done in my day, but I’d have thought things would have changed by now.

Nothing wrong with doing volunteer work either, but she obviously wants to go to the prom, and it seems early for her to give up on going.

While we’re still on the subject of tea, my mall here is getting a tea place called Teavana, where they have many different flavors of tea. And right next to it will be the Nestle Tollhouse Cafe, where it will be moving—for the SECOND time. Sigh. . . But, cookies and tea—the perfect combination, don’t you think?

Ah SO. The REAL Reason Bernie’s NOT Going to the Prom!

And its NOT because She Wants to Feed the Needy out of the Sheer “Goodness” of Her Heart. BAH!

ASK Your Self WHY No One’s Asked YOU to the Prom, Bernski.

Couldn’t Find Anybody There that was Your “TYPE,” or Something?

Never Got Over that “Zane Guy,” Huh?

And Fer Cripes Sake: Tea? EXCITING?!!? PLEASE!

Here. TRY a Triple Shot of Espresso! It’ll CHANGE Your ATTITUDE and Straighten Your Hair! I MEAN, Heart!

This previous strip with Phelps & Fogarty indicates that older single adults can have some sort of sex drive. However, teenagers consider that type of “being horny” to be “boring.” We live in a strange universe…

Speaking as a teaholic, I don’t find it a dull thing. Tea gives out a “timed-release” of caffeine where coffee bombs my nerves in a mass attack.Dull? Probably people do find me thus but I enjoy life without the need for excitement all the time.

Run Bernice, Run, you just got glimpse into the future if you don’t stop letting Mother Teresa Delta guilt you into things you could care less about. If you were a guy, I’d say " grow a set" then tell Delta you’re not interested in her agenda.

Personally, I like to start the morning with a few cups of Irish breakfast tea and then switch to Scottish breakfast tea (a malty, slightly smokey tea) for most of the rest of the workday, and then finish off the afternoon and the evening with the really smokey tea, Lapsang Souchong. That’s neither here not there for Bernice, however, since now that she know that Phelps is a tea drinker, she resolves from now on to drink only coffee. And Scotch.

There was an old episode of “Good Eats” (Food Network) that focused all on tea, and especially how to tell the different cuts (such as what is “black cut” and others) and different tea styles ‘round the world, and what gives them that flavor. – In anyone else’s presentation, it’d be like watching cheese be cultured… – In Alton Brown’s hands, it’s entertaining , and informative. Mostly because he’s not some “I’ve been to Food College, so I’ll educate you and make you almost as good as me”….
