Gates had a few “political aspirations” of his own, and it’s being overlooked that he’s also critical of Republicans in Congress,as well as others. Gates, like others in the position over the last 50+ years, need to be called Secretaries of WAR, not “defense”, as that is where there motivation lies, under the covers with the MIC.
Remember that although Gates says that Obama didn’t believe in the war (which is a big part of his popularity with the American people, who also don’t believe in the wars), Gates also says that Obama made all the right decisions. I’d take praise like that any day.
