Truth, @She1943! We have the same issues even now- no battery or I’ve taken the memory card out.. And @lightenup, you are so right- my youngest is 5, and I already wish I had more of that stuff! It’s as hard to get recorded as the idyllic moments!
It’s hard to update a strip like this. Even if they changed the dialogue, John probably wouldn’t be searching the top shelf of a closet for a cell phone or memory card. So it runs as is, because the point is still made.
Even with a digital camera or cell phone this can happen unless you keep it on your person as you walk through the house. My cats will get into adorable positions and I’ll go grab my digital camera out of my purse (in another room of course) or off the dresser but by the time I return with it, they’ve moved.
To all the commenters yesterday who seem to know me better than I do, you didn’t know our circumstances. Not that I need to justify myself to any of you, but first of all, we didn’t think we COULD have children. We were married for 17 years before our first one arrived, and she came naturally (no fertility therapy or anything). Second, soon after she was born my husband lost his job and had to take a much lesser paying job. Hence, I also had to enter the job market. There were a lot of other circumstances as well. None of it had to do with overspending or not “planning”. My husband and I happily sacrifice for our two daughters’ security, but they also see us as hard-working and they know not to take anything for granted. They also know that they are loved.
