Actually, I can see both sides of the argument. My personal opinion is: I think there are a lot of things we really don’t need to know, And that our enemies would really like to know. And the bottom line is [did what he revealed help us – or did it help our enemies?]
he brought a lot of things to the fore, but to my knowledge he didn’t jeopardize anybody’s life like the guy did who blew the CIA’s operative’s cover a few years ago.
“If Snowden didn’t do anything wrong ,why did he go to China?”.To keep bullets from the back of his skull. When Democrats are in the presidency, mysterious deaths are often overlooked.
Snowden escaped the country because he would have been tried as a traitor, even though he revealed the government guilty of an illegal act or government over-reach and a violation of the constitution. I expect him to be eventually vindicated, once cooler heads prevail.
Hmmm, Patriot Act and Military Commissions Act on trial. Snowden definitely could as well have released such damning “evidence” 12 or more years ago, in fact, might be interesting to track the dates of some of these actions, still being held as “secret” still.
What’s generally not admitted is that each and every one of the Founding Fathers was considered a traitor by Great Britain. Doing the right thing doesn’t always mean following the law. Of course, the risks are high if you don’t, no matter the result. History has a long list of heroes who were crucified by the ones who benefited from their heroism.
Seen what happens to those who go through channels, as they’re advised to? They end up either jailed or out on the street with no job, while the person whose crimes they’ve revealed get a promotion.
