Perhaps the character in the second panel should be labeled “presumed recipient”.
“Hey, mom! Look at the cool new Xbox we got, and we didn’t even order it. It looks just like the one that Timmy, two blocks over, is still waiting for.”
Yes, drones are coming to your neighborhood, they just will not be bringing you presents. By 2015 legislation is in place to begin allowing UAVs to mingle with normal public and private manned air traffic, even ones smaller than 55 lbs. The drones you are most likely to see will be from your friendly local police department. If you live in an HOA they too will be using drones to ensure compliance and increase fine issuance. The future is coming, hope you are ready for the “Eye in the Sky”.
Some technology is , and will remain too expensive, and/or complex to be practical. Bezos limiting his “drone delivery” to ten miles doesn’t begin to list all the limits on such a system, even in rural areas, let alone in cities where most folks live in multi-story apartments or condos. Bezos just wants folks to thing “future”.
Drones ARE being authorized to operate in more airspace all the time, for various purposes, and the danger from them will increase exponentially, in various ways, including “privacy”.
End unemployment, abolish all labor saving devices, like natural gas, electricity, cars, roads, shovels..After all the initial dying was over, the few remaining would be working full time to delay joining the dead..(Aactually, the ones who refused to go along would simply rule.)
