Trivia: In some countries, it is Baby Jesus (instead of Santa Claus) who traditionally brought gifts for the kids on the night from the 24th to the 25th of December. And in other countries the gifts were (are?) brought by the Three Wise Men (aka the Three Kings or the Magi) on January 6th. That’s because they were the ones that brought gifts for Baby Jesus in the Biblical stories. (Yeah, I know. Sorry for going off-topic there.)

Greg, if this happens I know some people who will track you down, and you won’t like their “gratitude.”

As I recall from a novel about Queen Elizabeth I I listened to a few months ago, she exchanged gifts with her nobles on New Year’s Day (as I mentioned to my sister when she hoped her family’s Christmas presents to us would get to us by New Year’s. Since she mailed them yesterday – maybe – that hope is dimmer. Then there’s my wife’s sister – she gave me my 1995 Christmas present on Father’s Day 1996.

Been there, done that. In Latin America (or at least in Mexico), kids get double the presents. Once at Christmas, and then on January 6, the Feast of the Epiphany, i.e., when the 3 Wise Men actually arrived to give Jesus His presents.
