Our town lost two of our WW II vets in the last month. But what started as a day to honor the “end of war”, has become the day to honor the LIVING who served, “Memorial Day” is for those who died.
For those who did what so few today can begin to understand, with less than 1% of the population with “veteran” status, or in service, please, don’t say “thank you”, but rather, “welcome home”.
Libsmasher: son out on disabled retirement after 13 years, although the military IS typically more “conservative”, you’re statement regarding Democrats and Obama don’t fly. Getting OUT of Iraq, and out of Afghanistan, and staying out of Syria, is NOT unpopular with the troops, despite some of the nuts in the Pentagon who are mostly, well, contractors, or lining up to BE contractors when they get out.
