Our town lost two of our WW II vets in the last month. But what started as a day to honor the “end of war”, has become the day to honor the LIVING who served, “Memorial Day” is for those who died.

For those who did what so few today can begin to understand, with less than 1% of the population with “veteran” status, or in service, please, don’t say “thank you”, but rather, “welcome home”.

And have you seen the old man outside the veterans’ mission
His memory’s fading with those ribbons that he wears
And in our busy city, the rain cries a little pity
For one more forgotten hero, and a world that doesn’t care?—Ralph McTell (with minor modifications)

I wonder why Republicans who say they support the troops but only on the fighting and killing end of it, not the survivors which they are eager to cut funding and funnel to their nest eggs and weapons systems?

I am a vet, and I can tell you that the military as a whole generally abhors the Democrat party and what that party has done to ruin military integrity, especially the 0 administration.

So thanks for trying to taint Veteran’s Day with your liberal talking points, but they FAIL. I swear, liberalism must really be a mental disorder!

^Mental disorder only if you believe the military is the answer to most problems in the world, which clearly it is not. In fact the military temperament and the military complex with trillion dollar stupid wars, killings and maimings that will require support for a generation, and 800 military bases around the world that drain the home economy are huge detriments to economic and social progress.

Libsmasher: son out on disabled retirement after 13 years, although the military IS typically more “conservative”, you’re statement regarding Democrats and Obama don’t fly. Getting OUT of Iraq, and out of Afghanistan, and staying out of Syria, is NOT unpopular with the troops, despite some of the nuts in the Pentagon who are mostly, well, contractors, or lining up to BE contractors when they get out.

And, since you’ve invoked Hitler, do you recall his version of universal health care (Reichsversicherungsverordnung)? Also, you might want to ask certain Jews’ ancestors about Hitler’s policies regarding gun control.

    Hmmm… that sounds a lot like a certain modern-day party, doesn’t it?

Anyone in the Democrat party doing Hitler comparisons during the 0 administration might want to catch up on their history first! LMAO!

“Getting OUT of Iraq, and out of Afghanistan… is NOT unpopular with the troops…”

Which is why, of course, Democrats continually try to suppress the Military vote.

BTW, how many time do I have to remind you that Bush signed the Iraqi Status of Forces Agreement outlining our withdrawal timeline, and that Obama called Afghanistan the “Just”, “Moral” and “Necessary” war?
