Don’t you know that big-government liberals are much smarter than all of us, and that they Should decide what’s best for us?

No, mandated air bags, seat belts and head restraints. You can’t buy a VW bug anymore — too many people were being killed in them. And paying for coverage that doesn’t cover was pretty stupid to begin with.

Mr. Payne is being a bit unfair. The lady in the cartoon can go to several dealerships in my area where those tinier than VW Bugs Smart Cars are in ample supply. In my own recent SUV hunt, I looked at economy cars and found lots of non electric, high gas mileage vehicles for under 18k, brand new.I bought a 2007 Jeep.As the tech improves, electric and hybrids will improve as well. Mr. Payne needs some patients, though patience doesn’t sell cartoons.Respectfully,C.

I’m so glad to see Mr. Payne bring cars back to his ‘toons. It’s been almost a week. Still no bumper sticker, though. Maybe next ’toon.

If Obama had his way, we would all be driving electric cars. Then we could go no further than 50 miles from home.

    It’s not a car, it a metaphor.

A good many people cannot buy a used car from anyone, thanks to Obama’s cash for clunkers program. The reduction of supply doubled the price of low-end used cars, of the sort driven by entry level workers. You forgot to include the cost of that government mandated insurance. If someone wants to drive his uninsured beater with iffy brakes, who are we to stop him? Well, except when you get rear ended.Cash for clunkers did create a temporary spike in used car prices, but that’s no longer the case.
