Quite myopic as I’ve come to expect from Benson. He must really be very happy…

The entirety of the left seems quite perplexed over what to do about 80 people and the voters they represent , awesome! It’s not perplexing & it’s certainly not awesome.I agree that the TP reps are representing people who voted for them. They got elected to stop Obamacare at all costs. It was a promise based on the premise that Romney would win & the GOP would retake the Senate. They should have been truthful with their constituents: we can’t stop it now, but we’re going to try & limit what we see as the worst parts of the law. But, they weren’t elected to be pragmatic. Now, they are lost in the wilderness. They can’t do what they promised, even though they’ve shutdown the government & are taking us to the brink of default. They’re terrified of having to go home empty handed, but have no agreement on what they would like Obama to concede in lieu of leaving the ACA out of the current spending bill. It’ll be interesting to see if the voters in those districts replace the TP reps with pragmatists or even more radical members. What next? Suicide bombers?

As one who stands to the left of center and considers himself to be a “Teddy Roosevelt Progressive” (Remember Teddy? Created national parks, ended child labor, A man a plan a canal Panama? Republican.) I do not like being lumped into the hate filled mob that you’ve just described the left as being. MsKemple is not a traitor, nor is she a terrorist. Even MSteven58 isn’t a traitor/terrorist, that commentator, like many in GC, on both sides, simply enjoys throwing fuel on the fires of divisiveness as a way to create sparks and weaken any good messages that might be offered, such as MichaelWME in this string.“Liberals”, as I define them, are the ones who care about those who have been disenfranchised or who have suffered losses due to circumstances beyond their control but within the control of those that caused those losses. “Liberals” protect people and the environment from the excesses of the rich and powerful, and the moderate liberals do this with an eye on our nations finances and international responsibilities. As a progressive, I see the “liberal” extremist of today as willing to bring most, or even all, of the wealthy down in an effort to raise all, or at least most, or the poor up. There has to be a balance, but in our nation’s history, it has been the Morgans, the Carnegies, and even the Hearsts and Vanderbilts who used their money to make our nation better. They were not always legal or honorable in their methods, but if you read the history of these people, you can see where they tried to justify the means they used to reach their ends with good works. There have also been disenfranchised who were the engines of their own misfortune and refuse to recognize it or make corrections.Your words, like Kato’s, do liberals and progressives a disservice. All of the positive things said by our many well spoken moderate and fairly liberal commentators mean little or nothing after you come out with your flames and insults.Hate is the weapon politicians and media extremists want us to use. Insult is the discourse with which they want us to communicate. By taking this discussion into the gutters, you have soiled all of those who want to agree with your position, but who did not want to be splashed by the sewage. The only way I can wash off the offal with which you have thrown at those with whom we disagree, offal that DOES NOT TOUCH THEM, is to flag you. Delete your insults, and I’ll delete this. Fail to delete, and from this point on, I will flag you whenever you use hate speech. Vulgarity is always flaggable, and when you call our neighbors nazis, terrorists, or other vile things, you either do not know what those words mean, or you are hater who needs be ToS’d so you can have time to rethink your methods of communication.Even respectful trolls have their limits.C.

“…America brings success to the world…”-Do you think that success didn’t exist before the USA?

Good comments, Ahab. I’m sure UB40 will forgive you. There are many religious and philosophical disciplines that recommend the use of kindness and compassion as a “weapon”. Even ‘rats’ can become ‘nice’ when treated well, though they will always be looking for gifts of food. The Kochs are not rats. They are brilliant, wealthy, and surround themselves with other brilliant people. They know what motivates elected officials and media sources and they have their own agenda. One of the brothers is now on the board of Boston’s public TV station that produces NOVA and other programming that have produced many documentaries attacking issues the Kochs support. They are the owners of one of those “corporations that are people” and they use their money to support candidates and superpacs and also buy “issue ads” to help their candidates of choice. Thank you for your effort to educate folks while entertaining them.Almost done with my day so I’ll be able to drink some “Red Red Wine” and listen to some music.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXt56MB-3vcRespectfully,C.

Visited Red Rocks in 1998. No concert, just an empty amphitheater. My sister didn’t know about the T rex footprints. I’ll look for them if i go out that way again. She’s still in Denver. Thanks for the tip, Ahab.Sincerely,C.

Those tea party weirdos. Wanting a federal government with limited powers that lives within its means? What kind of fools would want such a thing? Oh, wait, the ones who started the country in the first place.

Yeah, blame the people who are trying to promote a little fiscal responsibility. Instead, let’s keep spending like drunken sailors and get even deeper into the debt crevasse.
