Good morning, Vagabonds. A few hours ago (actually yesterday evening) i was invited to an informal get-together at the Turkish Cultural Center. This is a place where people come to learn Turkish and take part in Turkish Cultural events, I decided to wear a brand new pair of shoes that I hadn’t broken into as I’ve been managing with slippers all summer. I never new the avenue block from the 6th avenue subway to 5th Avenue, where the center was was so distant. (I’ve figured out that an “avenue block” is equivalent to 3 1/3 “street blocks.”

The program was great and I met a lot of new people, mostly from Turkey. When it came time to leave, it was a struggle to walk back to the subway station and when I reached my stop, the 41 steps from subway platform to street were torturous. I was planning on going to the Mountain Jewish synagogue in Brooklyn today, but I’d better stay home.

Good morning, Vagabonds. I’m past the half-way mark in my English History book. Charles II has died and the “Glorious Revolution” is about to happen.

My Bingo group in Miami asked me to buy a new Bingo set in NY because the numbers on the Bingo balls from Toys-R-Us always fade. They asked me to look at FAO Schwartz. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

    Good Morning, Vagabonds,

Went to get our flu shots yesterday………MMM is feeling the effects this morning. Bummer.

We learned something the other day…………when they harvest the grains (wheat, barley, etc), they are not naturally dry. They have to use fans inside the silos to dry them. We heard something in the news about an electricity shortage this month because of the harvest, and had no clue. I just assumed that the grain wasn’t harvested until it was ready.Learn something new every day!

Jan……thanks for your Chex Mix recipe……..can’t wait to try it!

Arye, most major market areas have a “game store” of some kind. They sell board games, chess sets, etc. usually of a better quality than any toy store. I found the following link for yellow pages listings of game stores in Miami:http://www.yellowpages.com/miami-fl/game-store
