Republicans do not want the Canadian experience playing out in the U.S.. Tommy Douglas, father of Canadian Medicare and premier of Saskatchewan, had this quaint idea that people should not be dying because they could not afford treatment. So he introduced a bill in the early 1960s that would create the first universal single payer health care plan in North America. The doctors resisted, and conservatives and representatives from the American Medical Association poured over the border joining their Canadian brethren in stopping “socialized” medicine. But Tommy the fighter refused defeat, and in 1962 universal single payer health care became a reality in Saskatchewan, soon to be followed at the national level..In 2004 Canadians were asked to name “The Greatest Canadian.” The people’s choice was Tommy Douglas, beating out Sir Charles Banting (insulin) and Sir Alexander Graham Bell (telephone). Many Americans do not want a similar story playing out in the U.S. with Obama.

If there is any damage from a shutdown it will be short lived. If there is any damage from Obamacare it will be forever or until we as a country implode.

Just “shut down” the oxygen supply to these specific clowns, and put in a pure CO2 atmosphere, it would be good for them, as it makes things grow, right??

Liberals have to be brain dead. The Republicans passed legislation to keep the nation going. If it is shut down, Obama and the liberals will do it.

Yep. You have to quote a Democrat posing as a Republican. McCain has always been a liberal and has never been a true Republican.

You should be looking in a mirror. It is the liberal agenda that is bankrupting the nation (but I guess you think that is a good thing). It is the liberal agenda that is morally bankrupting the country (but I guess you think the corruption and high crime rate is a good thing). The liberal agenda is putting more of the country into poverty than ever before in the history of our country (but I guess you think that is a good thing).

“So, you say that, in the future, if Obamacare is a total catastrophe, people will still vote Dem and nothing can be done about it and the law can never be repealed? I don’t think this is how humans work”.In theory perhaps. The Federal telephone excise tax was in place around 1898 and it looks like sometime in 2006 there was a partial repeal. So the federal government moves very slowly to repeal something that “bleeds” John Q Public..Like most that voted for the ACA, I don’t know most of it but what I do know is 2 things: 1: Smaller companies are exempt, and apparently their costs are increased if they choose to provide, case in point I lost my health care and my wife will lose hers when it becomes law. 2nd. Part is part timers are exempt so companies have an incentive to reduce their full time staff. I think only Starbucks has publicly stated that they will not reduce their full time staff and we don’t know how honest that was..Hopefully you lefty leaning folks are right, otherwise it may be the end of the middle class and there will only be the rich and the poor.
