Today: Book reports Math quiz History/Social Studies + the Fat Elvis years Caulfield: Mrs. Olsen, may I be excused? I think I'm going to throw up. Mrs. Olsen: Really? When? Caulfield: Well, I have no idea. but sometime. In the 80 or so years I've got left, I'm quite sure. Mrs. Olsen: Sit down, Caulfield. Caulfield: She's on to me. Frazz: She's been on to you. She's just not usually quick enough.

“Do kids of today even know who Elvis was? Or for that matter, even care? I know I don’t.”
It’s hard NOT to know who Elvis WAS, since his image is about as recognizable as, say, Abraham Lincoln’s or Hitler’s. And if they don’t, well, that’s what schools are for.
Whether or not kids CARE about Elvis is a different matter, but once again you could say the same Lincoln or Hitler. And if not, well, that’s what schools are for.
Seriously, though, Elvis’s music is very kid-friendly. Introduce a 4-year-old to “Jailhouse Rock” or “Teddy Bear” or “I Want You, I Need You, I Love You,” and the kid will start dancing.
