Stunning combination of words and picture.

That’s all I’m prepared to say at this time.

They are probably OK, unless they have been beaten and teased since they were just puppies. They are off of their leashes though, obviously in violation of the law. A good excuse to take them to the pound and put them on euthanasia row.

Now redraw it with two black kids in goodies and see what a spitstorm you unleash.

Some of the sweetest dogs I’ve known were Dobies, rotweilers, Staffordshire terriers (“pit bulls”) and German shepherds, all “noted” as vicious breeds or that bring fear to people. Our shepherd was a much bigger wuss than our black lab for example.

BUT, the real issue is that with dogs, or people, if you show fear, or act stupid, they will detect it, and take advantage of the situation. The best defense is NOT an “offense”, but rational defense, and respect for whom, or what, you may be facing.

I’m a bit stunned by this, too.But the right-wingers should be thrilled.Perhaps Mr. Oliphant is transforming into one of them.

My former neighbor had a doberman. It was one of the most well behaved dogs I’ve ever seen.

@ReasonsVentriloquist – We all do some profiling and that is what keeps us safe.

If I see a bunch of nuns marching down the street protesting abortion or nuclear war or whatever – I assume (and probably rightly so) that it will continue to be a peaceful protest and I can safely be in the same area going about my business.

If I see a bunch of skinheads in Jackboots, leather and chains marching down the street I assume that they are Less disciplined and figure that is not a safe area to be around. Any number of stimuli can set them off.

People who adopt the uniform of a group garner extra scrutiny from those around them trying to identify their intentions. It’s unfortunate that the hooded sweatshirt is a favorite of thieves and thugs because everyone wearing one now becomes suspect – And I like my hooded sweatshirt when the wind blows.

If a group of individuals started robbing convenience stores and vadalizing parks in habits we would quickly start to distrust nuns.

Well, it certainly is wrong to profile dogs. People? Well, I don’t know. I don’t think the issue is a simple black/white one, but I think it is easy to reduce it to either/or in the interest of polarizing people …

There are lots and lots of pure cowards on this page. Oh, you’ll pee on one another to be politically correct. But push comes to shove you’ll run like pansies from a fight. It’s hard to believe the nation that helped win WWII has made such gutless wonders as you folks.

BTW, to all you dog lovers who think your nice little “wolfie” would never bother anybody here is a little warning from you: a woman had her dog attack me while I was minding my own business on a run. I got a tree branch and after the dog was tagged I wanted to beat the ass of the lady. BTW, I have the right to defend myself and the police said so.

I live not far from Detroit. And you’re fools to think that people don’t stalk you. Always have access to firepower.

Most of you are cowards. You’re P.C. In 20 years you’ll be slaves and it could not happen to more deserving people.

So are some scummy people: by themselves, they’re chickensnot and afraid to go up mano a mano, but within a gang, attacking an individual, they’re tough.

I had a Dobie rescue for a number of years and he was the sweetest guy ever. The kid that originally got him did it because he wanted a big, bad, mean, dog. He could have turned out that way if the kid had kept him…but he didn’t. He hurt the dog and a neighbor took the dog to the vet and rescued the dog…at his own expense.

I take it you don’t keep Chihuahuas? :-|

Staying on the literal interpretation that so annoyed Renraku, my brother had a Doberman, too. Hand-reared by my sis-in-law after it was abandoned by its mother immediately after birth. Unfortunately, in its formative 1st year, my brother’s home was broken into and the burglars badly beat the poor dog. Never quite recovered and was always very nervous with strangers, hiding behind the sofa from people and loud noises alike. It would also suckle my thigh. I kid you not. Forget about horny dogs humping legs being annoying, try a Doberman, fully grown and adult, suckling your leg. Full on suckling. My sis-in-law found it cute and allowed it to continue. Bizarre.Anyway, I don’t know the context of this ‘toon so I’ll leave it be.

Yes, they can be sweet dogs. So can pit bulls, but which side are you going to err on?

Appears to be stylized Dobermans…..oh yay! Most Dobies in the US are pretty friendly and don’t really have much protection drive these days. There are soooo few working line Dobermans in this country, it’s not even funny. But I guess you’d actually have to know your subject through research instead of just slapping something together for shock.

I’ve had over-sized Rottweilers, ‘pit bulls’/APBTs, and various other breeds charge at me, occasionally in pairs. And this would happen when I was a kid even. I just knew what to do with each particular dog. Some I could run off, others I had to show I wasn’t a threat, most I just ignored because there is a lot of bluffing with dogs. It was never about breed or type or look, but behavior. Always behavior.

I have to say…‘Run like hell’. Running incites prey drive because they are predators, though it can also be taken as the ‘chase me game’ which-if a dog doesn’t have bite inhibition..people can end up hurt.
